Home Care Services in Gateshead

We are an established local home care agency offering expert home care services in Gateshead and throughout the North East.

Companion Care | Dementia Care | Live-in Care | PERSONAL CARE | Respite Care

Our team of devoted home care providers are local people who know the Gateshead region well and have shared interests with the clients that we work with.

All of our staff are dedicated individuals who pride themselves on providing compassionate care at home via our wide range of services to help you and your loved ones stay comfortable and independent in your own home.

We have a strong commitment to providing the best possible home care to all of our clients. We are regulated by the CQC, follow their guidelines very carefully, and go beyond minimum standards. Our services can be tailored to meet the needs of every individual and we are always on hand to offer support and advice.

It may be that you require help with everyday tasks such as cooking and cleaning or you may have more complex care needs such as a disability or health issue. Rest assured, we are here to give you the peace of mind to allow you to live independently in the way which suits you best.

We work with people who have very specific needs, and we ensure those needs are met in an agreed way which makes our clients feel comfortable, relaxed and in control of their own situations.

We also provide care for people who only need assistance for a short period of time such as after an operation or while other family members are away or temporarily unavailable. Whatever the reason, our dedicated home carers will ensure you have first-class care and attention for as long as you require it.

We understand that most people would prefer to continue living in their own home no matter the circumstances. Alternatives to home care such as moving into a care home can feel daunting. We find that our clients feel a great sense of relief when we reassure them that they can continue to live in their own home with our expert care and do not need to consider stepping into the unfamiliarity and uncertainty that a care home can bring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I continue living in my own home and receive support there?

Yes, you can: that’s what we do best. Whether you need daily visits or a live-in carer we will tailor everything to suit you, allowing you to continue living at home. If you require daily visits, we will agree with you on how many are needed and at what time. If you require live-in care, we will agree with you about how that will work and what will be needed to make it work successfully.

How do you determine and provide the care I want?

We will visit you and give you a free assessment in which we will chat with you to determine the level of support that you would like such as help with everyday tasks, cooking, cleaning, getting dressed, mobility etc. We will explain the costs and give you a timeframe to get your support in place.

I live in a remote location. Can you still provide me with the care I want?

We try our very best to supply staff who live close to the clients that we support. We have already provided care successfully to people in some very remote locations in and around Gateshead, such as Harperley Iveston and Lamesley, amongst others. Please call us and let us see how we can help.

Will my care team be the same or different people?

Our key aim is to have a continuity of care with CareCompanions™ who are carefully matched to you at all times. There may be occasions when other carers have to be involved but they will be similarly suited to give you the high levels of home care and support that you want.

I only need support temporarily after coming out of hospital, can you help?

We will visit you and discuss the short-term care that you require so that we can arrange to provide the right care for as long as you would like it.

I have a relative who needs live-in care with complex support, are there any limitations to the support you can provide?

No, there are no limitations to the type of home care and domiciliary care support we provide. As we are regulated by the CQC, we can provide support and personal care no matter how complex your relatives’ care requirements might be. We provide live-in care for all sorts of people with all kinds of issues, such as physical disabilities and dementia. Speak to us and we will tell you how we can help.

What happens if my requirements for live-in care change?

It may be that there is a change in your health which requires less or more care or something simple like a modification to your diet: you can always arrange to meet your Care Manager who will be happy to discuss any changes you would like to make to your care package.

Can I decide whether to have a male or female carer?

Yes, you can. We respect your wishes as to whether a male or female carer would be better for you, to make you feel more comfortable and maintain your dignity.

Do you have carers available now in Gateshead?

We have care providers based in Gateshead and throughout the North East region and are always looking to recruit more who are able to match our high standards.

What do I need to provide for a live-in carer?

A live-in carer will need a bedroom of their own with a bed, bed linen, wardrobe and chest of drawers, in order to store their belongings for the duration of their stay. They will share other facilities as necessary. Internet access would be ideal in the modern world that we live in.

What is companion care?

There are many people who are healthy and active but live alone and feel lonely or isolated. They want to continue living in their own home but don’t have regular contact with other people. Companion care gives structured contact for an agreed amount of time with someone who is honest, reliable and shares common interests.

What is dementia care?

Dementia care is helping someone suffering from dementia to get the most out of their life. This will mean assessing their capabilities and encouraging them to follow a daily routine involving bathing, dressing, eating, socialising and taking part in appropriate activities. Well-trained dementia carers assist sufferers to continue living in their own home and give reassurance to family and friends that they are safe.

What is the longest duration you can provide respite care for?

We will always discuss the duration of respite care with the individual and surrounding family before it begins and agree how long it should be. If that changes for any reason we will discuss and arrange that with you as necessary.
